The Words “Welcome” Were Shouted

I will never forget the welcome to Canada party that was thrown for me and my cousin.

We walked through the door, and the words ” Welcome to Canada” were shouted. My aunt said ” Go grab a stick and head outside.” I had no idea what was fixing to happen, and I didn’t want to go outside. I walked outside and chose a chair, she then announced we would cook raw chicken on a stick and then eat it. I absolutely did not want to do that.

The first time I put the chicken on my stick it slipped through my fingers, but finally on the third try I got it secured on my stick. While we waited for the chicken to cook, we all talked about what had been going on while we haven’t seen each other.

Finally after about an hour the chicken was pleasingly cooked, and tasted incredible. Next my aunt announced “Next on the menu were s’mores.” I captured a rod and put mine straight in the fire, while others lightly toasted them. When it was finished I smashed it together, and the hot marshmallow pressed against my tongue tasted marvelous. After all I was excited and grateful my aunt had prepared this trip for us. You should always be grateful of things, even if its not exactly what you want.
